West Town Farm
Andy Bragg has been running West Town Farm at Ide since 1982. West Town farm is an organic beef farm. Their Hereford Cross cattle are all pasture fed, and they are a member of the Pasture Fed Livestock Association. They also have a small flock of Shropshire sheep, and some very excitable pigs! The farm became fully certified by the Soil Association in 1992, although you won’t find their logo on the packaging. This is because Andy prioritises keeping the retail price low, and an organic butcher would significantly increase the cost. The farm is very involved with the local community, and they encourage customers to visit them and learn more about what they do. They are also proud to be the biggest farm education site in the UK, in partnership with OrganicArts. The team at West Town Farm believe that locally organic meat can be produced affordably, and cuts out the hidden costs of cheap meat, such as animal welfare, health and environment.
